Mackenzie is the Global Startup Evangelist at AWS. His days are spent traveling the globe to meet startups, share their stories, and connect engineering teams together. Every day there are a large number of startups launching on AWS across every imaginable industry. It’s Mackenzie’s mission to find stories of startups that are helping to improve the world and share these stories with a wide audience.

 

Prior to joining AWS, Mackenzie was the Head of Technical Operations at Betterment, the world’s largest independent robo-advisor based in NYC which manages over $8B in assets. Mackenzie was a founding engineer and Head of Technical Operations at Oscar Health, an insurance startup also based in NYC, helping to grow the company to over 400+ employees.

About the event

Join us for a three-hour virtual workshop where you will learn how to build a virtual computer lab that allows students to securely access applications and data. Students can run high performance and graphic demanding applications from any device.

 

You'll learn about Amazon Web Services (AWS) end user computing services and key architectural considerations, and get hands-on experience working with Amazon AppStream 2.0. No previous knowledge of AWS is needed to participate.

 

In this workshop, you will:

Explore common virtual application/desktop concepts, challenges, and solutions

 

Build, configure, and test a virtual application streaming solution

 

Explore the end-user experience of streaming an application

Who should attend

Higher education IT decision makers and technical professionals who work with computer labs, such as IT directors, managers, architects, and desktop administrators

Alex is a Sr. Solutions Architect on the AWS Public Sector team working with Higher Education customers in New York City to design, deploy, optimize, and migrate products and technologies to the AWS Cloud. In his spare time, he’s obsessed with creating home automations with Alexa speakers.

Jeremy Schiefer

Solutions Architect, Education, AWS

Jeremy is a Solutions Architect at AWS. He works closely with higher education institutions to help them get started with AWS. He focuses on End User Computing and has expertise in Microsoft Windows and networking. He can often be found working on 3D printing projects.
